Litigation attorney, Allyson Speirs, is the Youth Services Director of The Rotary Club of Central Cayman Islands and was instrumental in staging “Behind the Mask” on Saturday 7 March 2020. This spectacular masquerade ball fundraiser was held in honour and support of the Alex Panton Foundation (“APF”).

The APF was established in the memory of Alex Panton, who succumbed to the effects of severe depression at the age of 16. It is therefore APF’s mission to improve the mental health of children and young adults in the Cayman Islands through advocacy, awareness and support.

Around 150 guests were invited to enjoy a night of dinner, drinks and entertainment in the Marriott ballroom where attendees wearing masks and their finest evening wear perused the luxury items in the silent auction.

Miss Cayman Islands World was in attendance and shared her story of battling and overcoming an eating disorder and anxiety and how she now uses her “beauty with a purpose” platform to help end the stigma of mental illness.

Ally chose this organization as the recipient of the proceeds of this event as mental health awareness is a topic she is deeply passionate about and finds the work of the Alex Panton Foundation extremely important for the Island.
