Patricia Jackson is Of Counsel in the Tax, Litigation and Government & Regulatory Affairs practice groups of the Firm. With 20 years of experience as an attorney, 14 of which as tax counsel, she possesses a comprehensive knowledge of the tax legislative framework and is very thorough in the analysis of complex tax issues in commercial transactions. Having been instrumental in the drafting of various tax legislation in The Bahamas, Patricia provides clients with precise guidance and tax planning advice through the evolving tax environment.
Patricia brings extensive legal expertise to the table, having served as chief legal advisor to executive management and various business units within governmental agencies in The Bahamas and Jamaica. She has also provided legal counsel on tax audits and investigations and successfully litigated cases involving a wide array of tax issues in The Bahamas and Jamaica. Patricia is well-versed in overseeing all facets of the legal portfolio, from policy and legislation to advisory services and litigation.
Patricia is a former lecturer at the University of Technology Jamaica in the Bachelor of Laws degree program (Taxation Law, Law of Contract, and Banking and Finance Law). She has provided training to internal and external stakeholders on legislative developments and issued tax rulings and guidance notes to clarify procedures and practices for taxpayers.
Patricia holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from the University of the West Indies in Barbados and a Legal Education Certificate from Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica. She also obtained a Master of Business Administration (Distinction) from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the Boston University School of Law.
