Oluwafolakemi ‘Fola’ Swain is an Associate in the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group.
Fola was educated in the United Kingdom, earning her LLB degree with Honours from the University of Kent at Canterbury. She then successfully completed a combined Bar Professional Training Course with a Masters of Law (LLM) at the University of Law, Birmingham.
Whilst at university, Fola was awarded The Kent Internal Mooting Prize for the best advocate in a Land Law moot and chosen as best advocate in a Criminal Law moot. Fola was chosen as a third-year law student, to judge secondary school student debates for one of the English Speaking Union (ESU) annual Mace debating competitions, which draws students from all across Great Britain to debate various topics.
Fola was Called to the Degree of The Utter Bar of the Judicature of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn and then Called to the Bar of the Judicature of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in 2019. She became an Associate of Higgs and Johnson in 2021 following completion of pupillage with the Firm.
Outside of the legal sphere, Fola is a theatre enthusiast and obtained numerous certificates, most with distinction, from The Royal Academy of Dance in Ballet and continues to be passionate about dance, theatre and the Arts.
