Julia Koga da Silva is Of Counsel and a member of the firm’s Financial Services, Commercial Transactions and Securities, Investment Funds & Fintech practice groups. She is a corporate and commercial attorney with over 13 years’ experience in cross-border corporate and financial transactions. Julia advises on mergers and acquisitions, including transactions involving regulated fiduciary businesses across multiple jurisdictions, on commercial contracts and corporate governance, and on debt restructuring matters, and she acts as Bahamian counsel on international listings and financings for both private and public sector clients.

Julia also advises on the establishment, ongoing operation and restructuring of investment funds, and on securities and digital asset regulation. She advises on usufruct structures under recently introduced legislation, a mechanism long familiar to clients from civil law jurisdictions and now available in The Bahamas. Her practice is heavily focused on Latin American clients, particularly Brazilian individuals and businesses structuring offshore. Julia is a frequent speaker at industry conferences in The Bahamas and internationally, sharing insights on these and other cross-border wealth planning matters.

Prior to joining the Firm, Julia served as Chief Legal Officer of a private equity firm in Brazil. Earlier in her career, she practiced corporate law and mergers and acquisitions at two leading Brazilian law firms.

Julia holds an LL.B. from the University of São Paulo Law School and an LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. She also earned a Business and Law Certificate from the Wharton School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and has completed a range of executive training programmes in compliance, accounting, and corporate restructuring. Julia is also an Affiliate Member of STEP.
