Mrs. Tara A. Archer-Glasgow is a Partner in the firm and has extensive legal experience concentrated in the areas of commercial litigation, banking and compliance law, employment law and admiralty law. She has appeared as counsel or co-counsel in a number of important international and local cases in all of the courts of The Bahamas, as well as in the Privy Council in England. In addition, she provides legal advice and counsel to individuals, major international and local financial service providers and corporations regarding cross-border and multi-jurisdictional litigation, shareholder disputes, fraud, asset-tracing and recovery matters and internal operations. Tara has over the last eighteen (18) years, assisted clients in the tracing and recovery of millions of dollars. She also represents clients in franchise and intellectual property disputes and is the Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property group.
Tara is a member of The Bahamas Bar Association (BBA) and she was elected Council Member of the BBA in 2009 and again in 2011. She is also the past Chair of the Consumer Litigation Committee and Country Chair (Bahamas) of the Litigation Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). She is currently a member of the Editorial Board of Dispute Resolution International, a publication of the IBA and is an officer of the Poverty and Social Development Subcommittee. Tara is a former Law Lecturer at the College of The Bahamas and is a volunteer with The Bahamas Legal Aid Clinic.
Tara recently co-authored The Bahamas chapter in International Franchising 2016. She has been ranked as a leading lawyer by Who’s Who Legal: Asset Recovery 2016 (WWL). WWL noted, “Tara is recognised for her responsive and intuitive approach to complex international asset tracing and recovery actions with peers commending her as a highly approachable and reassuring presence for clients”. Clients speak highly of Tara’s qualities saying that she is “client friendly, accessible, knowledgeable, and gets the job done.” In 2017 the firm was selected as a finalist for the Law Firm of the Year category at the 2017 Lloyd’s List Americas Awards based upon Tara’s legal work and her participation as part of a team in landmark court actions which clarified the principle of freedom of contract to limit liability in commercial maritime agreements in cases involving collisions, or allisions globally.
