Ms. Ja’Ann M. Major is a member of the firm’s Real Estate & Development Practice Group. Ja’Ann has experience in a broad range of matters including residential and commercial property acquisitions and sales by Bahamians and non-Bahamians, preparation of financing and loan documentation, domestic mortgages, title investigations and opinion work, advising personnel at local lending institutions on the enforceability of mortgage security and acting on behalf of such lending institutions in power of sale matters, advising on real property tax matters and other regulatory matters including applications to the Bahamas Investments Board and other governmental entities and has assisted with subdivision, resort and hotel development.
Ja’Ann is further experienced in immigration law, probate and estate matters, commercial law and maritime law.
Ja’Ann obtained a dual honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Law (LL.B.) and Business Administration from Keele University, Staffordshire, England in 2007. She attended Bar School at BPP College of Professional Studies and thereafter was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2008 and to The Bahamas Bar in September of that same year. She later earned a Master of Law (LL.M) degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Ja’Ann became an Associate at Higgs & Johnson in 2011.
